Today, on December 13, a solemn event will be held at the KAMAZ automobile plant on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the construction of the Kama auto giant.Russian President Vladimir Putin will take part in the events to mark KAMAZ’s anniversary. The head of state will speak at a solemn meeting dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the famous automobile plant, get acquainted with new production lines and communicate with employees of the enterprise. On the same day, Putin will hold a working meeting with Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, who will also arrive in Naberezhnye Chelny for the anniversary of the auto giant.
Veterans and pioneers, builders of the Kama automobile plant, employees of the company, as well as representatives of Federal, Republican and city media were invited to the solemn event. In total, the event will be attended by more than four thousand people. The stage and stands are installed directly in the production hall, between the main assembly lines.
December 13 is considered the official date of the beginning of construction of the auto giant on Kama. In 1969, on this day, excavator operator Mikhail Noskov took out the first bucket of earth at the construction site of the future automobile plant. The years went by all-Union shock construction projects. In the mid-1970s, the legendary team under the leadership of Boris Kaminsky centrally carried out the installation of equipment at all commissioned facilities of KAMAZ. Everyone lived with one goal – and in February 1976 the first KAMAZ car came off the assembly line: test driver Valery Peretolchin brought a new class car to the country’s roads.
KAMAZ has provided comfortable housing, modern educational institutions, kindergartens, medical institutions, cultural, sports, recreation and leisure facilities to hundreds of thousands of people. From a small town with a population of 27 thousand people Naberezhnye Chelny grew into the second, after Kazan, city of the Republic. Now it is home to 534 thousand people.
Today KAMAZ is the leader of the Russian cargo engineering industry. For 50 years, the company has produced more than 2 million 311 thousand cars.
