KAMAZ took part in the 19th international exhibition of CNG, LPG, gas vehicles and gas refueling equipment GasSuf-2021 held at the Crocus Expo IEC in Moscow last week.

The Russian top truck manufacturer exhibited its popular freight tractors – a gas/diesel KAMAZ 54901-802-DA and an LPG KAMAZ 5490-80802-5R with two cryotanks.

Being an experienced producer of CNG and LNG trucks and cars, KAMAZ is a regular participant of the GasSuf exhibition. This year’s business program included the forum “Natural Gas Vehicles” in which the representatives of KAMAZ PTC took an active part. Thus, Ravil Gelmanov, Chief Specialist of the NGV Project Management Group, delivered his speech “KAMAZ NGVs Are a Viable Option to Improve the Vehicle Effectiveness” at the session “Projects for the Development of the NGV Fleet”. During the session, the participants discussed the prospects for the NGV market in the Russian Federation, best practices in operating NGVs and prospects for expanding the NGV vehicle fleet, the economic efficiency of the NGV fleet for carriers, and much more.

The exhibits and other KAMAZ vehicles can be leased under programs of KAMAZ Leasing Company. KAMAZ-LEASING offers its clients the basic product “Leasing “Reliable”, special promotional offers “Hot Leasing”, “Leasing “Strong”, ”Leasing “Profitable”, the program for regular customers “Leasing “Own”, the offer “Rent” – for renting used vehicles with subsequent purchase on favorable terms.

GasSuf is an international specialized exhibition of CNG, LPG, gas vehicles and gas refueling equipment. The event gathers Russian and foreign manufacturers, suppliers of LPG equipment and components, equipment and ready solutions for CNG and LPG filling stations, mobile NGV refueling stations, commercial and passenger vehicles running on NGV fuel, electronics for automotive gas equipment and NGVs.

KAMAZ-BASED LABORATORIES FOR WHO’S SIMULATION EXERCISES

KAMAZ vehicles became the basis for Russian mobile complexes of specialized anti-epidemic brigades (SPEB) used in the international simulation exercises of the World Health Organization, which took place on the territory of the Kazan Expo exhibition complex.

SPEB is a KAMAZ with trailers hosting laboratory modules. As Anna Popova, Head of Rospotrebnadzor, noted at the beginning of the exercises, Russia uses mobile laboratories in emergency situations, during sports championships and other mass events. Such vehicles operate not only in Russia, but also in several CIS countries, in Vietnam and Africa. They became widespread in the world during the COVID period because, according to Anna Popova, they helped introducing international sanitary regulations. Kazan was chosen to welcome 120 representatives from 20 WHO member countries because it offers suitable logistics for air delivery and placement of KAMAZ-chassis laboratories in closed spaces.

The international exercises in Kazan were the first of their kind. They aim to standardize field work and emergency care in the face of epidemics. According to the legend of the exercise, there is an outbreak of a certain infection in one of WHO countries. And the participants have to identify an infectious agent. Subsequently, the actions worked out during the exercises will determine the uniform WHO instructions for countering the spread of infection in any country.

Developing a line of K5-gen KAMAZ trucks, experts of the company’s R&D Center assembled two prototypes of KAMAZ-53251 medium-duty tractor units.

The trucks are descendants of the K4 generation vehicles. The first specimens of K5 medium-duty trucks are chassis to mount superstructures for retail and communal services. What differs the new models from their predecessor – the KAMAZ-5325 (K4 generation) – is a chassis weight reduced by almost 200 kg and hence an increased carrying capacity.

The trial models also differ against each other, mainly in weight characteristics. Thus, the curb weight of the vehicle intended for communal superstructures is 6,250 kg. The GVWR is 19 tonnes. The retail chassis has a curb weight of 6,550 kg. The GVWR of the truck is 18 tonnes. The GCWR is 28 tonnes.

Under the hood, both vehicles have a Euro 5 Cummins ISB6.7E5 310 diesel engine. The automated ZF9AS1310TO transmission is nine-speed. The cabin is all-metal, with an engine tunnel 170 mm high, on a four-point suspension. A one-sleeper cabin is available in the retail-version of the truck.

“When developing these vehicles, we gave priority to reducing the curb weight. At the same time, in no case should the ruggedness, reliability, cost price of the vehicle be compromised. And we managed to cope with this task. The KAMAZ-53251 chassis is lighter than the chassis of the K4 generation,” said Igor Valeev, Deputy Chief Designer of Automobiles.

The assembled specimens will soon undergo development tests to calibrate all electronic systems – a gearbox, an engine, a vehicle control unit. In a related move, the R&D specialists are preparing documentation for the KAMAZ-53252 vehicle compliant with the Euro 6 emission standards. A number of technical solutions will be employed here to make this chassis the most comfortable and efficient in its segment.
