KAMAZ delivered the first batch of new KAMAZ-5490 NEO truck tractors running on liquefied natural gas (LNG) with two cryotanks to the largest Russian transport company ITECO.
Under the terms of the contract, by the end of November 2020, KAMAZ will transfer a total of 300 KAMAZ-5490 NEO gas-powered vehicles for LNG with two cryobucks to the ITECO logistics company. The vehicles will be shipped according to the approved schedule to the ITECO branch in Tver.
Production of a new modification of the popular truck on the Russian market started in 2020. ITECO will be the first company to receive such a large batch of KAMAZ gas-powered tractors with two cryogenic tanks. This model is relevant for a well-known Russian cargo carrier, since ITECO cares about environmental protection and implements, it has a program to increase the number of gas-powered vehicles in the fleet. In addition to environmental friendliness, the main advantage of gas as an alternative fuel is its economy, which is especially important for carriers in conditions of rising prices for diesel fuel and with high vehicle mileage. For example, when operating a KAMAZ-5490 car on LNG, the truck owner can save up to 1,400,000 rubles per year on fuel.
«In the commercial road transport segment, the efficiency of car use is important, so our engineers are implementing advanced technologies to reduce the total cost of car ownership and meet the most demanding consumer needs. The order for 300 KAMAZ gas-powered vehicles confirms that this equipment is in demand among logistics operators and justifies the investment, – said Rustam Shamsutdinov, Deputy General Director for sales and service at KAMAZ PTC. – For many years, ITECO has always been one of our corporate clients, having received the status of a major operator of KAMAZ equipment. It is no coincidence that ITECO drivers are among the first to receive new products from our company for test operation. It is gratifying that Russia’s largest car carrier relies on a domestic manufacturer and actively replenishes its fleet with new-generation KAMAZ vehicles, while making a significant contribution to the preservation of the environment and the environment».
Production of KAMAZ-5490 NEO truck tractors on LNG with two cryogenic tanks was launched in February 2020. The technical characteristics of these models are not inferior to their diesel counterparts. The novelty received an economical gas engine Weichai (Euro-5), a manual 16-speed transmission ZF, with a power reserve at one gas station – up to 1400 km. Also, drivers who operate a tractor will be able to evaluate the comfort and convenience of the cab on a 4-point suspension.
