Representatives of the German company Thyssenkrupp System Engineering paid a working visit to the engine plant of KAMAZ PTC.

Among the delegation: Sales Manager Jacob Haaz, Development Manager Arseny Zuikov, and Project Manager Artem Verbitsky. The main purpose of the visit is to negotiate the modernization of the P6 engine assembly line.

Thyssenkrupp System Engineering was a supplier of equipment for the engine assembly line in the first phase of the Tibet project. This time the specialists of the German company came to discuss the prospects for further joint work. From the KAMAZ’ side the company’s Chief Technologist – the Director of the Technology Center Fyodor Nazarov, Chief Technologist of the Tibet project Vladimir Barinov and other specialists participated in the negotiations.

The second stage of the project, which was launched in January 2020, provides for an increase in the production capacity of engine production from 12 thousand to 30 thousand per year. Installation of equipment to enlarge the assembly line of the P6 engines, additional purchase of machines for processing the cylinder block and cylinder head should be completed by May 2022. All procurement procedures and selection of a partner company will be conducted on the basis of a tender.

The technical task for the modernization of the the P6 engine assembly line has been issued at the moment. Now the clock cycle time is 14.2 minutes, the new one should decrease it to 6 minutes. Also, the line must be upgraded to take into account the assembly of new models of engines – gas, gas-diesel, 13-liter diesel. Thus, KAMAZ’ production capabilities in the production of P6 engines will be expanded: three more types of engines will be added to the existing 12-liter diesel engine.
