Today, Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, has arrived in Naberezhnye Chelny to participate in an offsite meeting of the RT Government devoted to housing and communal issues and visit production facilities manufacturing KAMAZ vehicles for housing and communal services.
The head of the republic, Sergey Kogogin, Director General of OJSC KAMAZ, and Rafael Batyrshin, Director General of OOO RariTEK, saw buses running on compressed natural gas (methane). One of the main areas of RariTEK’s activities is to equip special vehicles and buses on KAMAZ chassis with gas engines and also to service such machinery.
The use of compressed natural gas (methane) as automobile fuel is one of the most promising areas of development of trucks and engines for them in the whole world. Foreign governments and businessmen are actively working on replacement of traditional fuel – gasoline and diesel fuel – by alternative fuels. As far back as the beginning of this century, KAMAZ was practically the first company in Russia which mastered production of compressed gas vehicles on its own chassis cooperating with subsidiaries of OAO Gazprom and small- and medium-size enterprises producing separate components of such machinery. It was repeatedly proved that vehicles running on gas fuel enable to fulfill environmental requirements of UNECE much more easily and with fewer costs. Thus, KAMAZ is currently able to start up serial production of Euro-4 machinery on the basis of its automobile engines. There are also prospects of production of engines and vehicles complying with the next levels of international environmental standards.
Then, the RT President Rustam Minnikhanov visited an exhibition of municipal vehicles on KAMAZ chassis which took place in front of the city hall of Naberezhnye Chelny.
